Sandomierz News from February 21, 2009. Bishop Andrzej Dzięga the Ordinary of the Diocese of Sandomierz has been appointed Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Szczecin-Kamień by pope Benedict XVI. He replaced Archbishop Zygmunt Kamiński who retires. Bishop Andrzej Dzięga is 57. He's a proffessor of canon law and lecturer on Catholic University of Lublin. He took holy orders in June 1977 in Siedlce. In 2002 we was appointed Bishop of Sandomierz. Bishop Dzięga is the chairmen of Law Council of Polish Episcopal Conference and member of the Joint Governmental and Episcopal Committee. He initiated the International Cyril-and-Methodius Meetings organized in Sandomierz on the Holiday of Saints Patrons of Europe. Apostolic Nuncio Archbishop Józef Kowalczyk has informed today about the decision made by Pope Benedict XVI.
