"Around the Water" Shanties Festival

In this year's festival titled "Around the water" more than ten bands will play the music of rafters and mariners on the stages at the Marketplace and Piłsudski's River Bank. The shanties festival will last three days. The culture of raftrs and sailors has been connected with Sandomierz for centuries. W tegorocznym festiwalu wodniackim pod nazwą "Dookoła wody" na scenach na Rynku i na Wybrzeżu Piłsudskiego zaprezentuje się kilkanaście zespołów grających muzykę filsaków i marynarzy. Festiwal szanty potrwa trzy dni. Od wieków z Sandomierzem zwięzana jest kultura filsaków i żeglarzy. Stąd też przed laty narodził się pomysł aby właśnie tu odbywały się przeglądy piosenek wodniackich. Festiwal szantowy, generalnie muzyka szantowa jest już na dobre zakotwiczona w tradycji Sandomierza. Zakotwiczona dołownie, o czym świdczy kotwica na Rynku. Koncerty i festiwale szantowe mają tu ponad 20-letnią tradycję.
