Water routes and new port in Sandomierz

Sandomierz Business News from August 5, 2009. Vistula and several other polish rivers will be included in the European system of water transport routes. Main investments would be made in Poland, in our region, too. Vistula is navigable in the area of Sandomierz but only on a small stretch. It is possible to sail upriver and downriver as far as 6 km away from Sandomierz. Regulation of Vistula is necessary to be able to sail to Kraków and the ports in Gdańsk and Szczecin. Also for water transport of goods from Germany to Belarus and Ukraine but it's not all. Such connection would practically open tourist routes from Black Sea till the Atlantic Ocean. Our region will benefit too because Sandomierz will be the trans-shipment port for the Southern Poland and in addtion local materials will be used in the construction of the route. --- Sandomierskie wiadomości gospodarcze z 5 sierpnia 2009. Wisła i kilka innych polskich rzek mają zostać włączonych do europejskiego systemu szlaków transportu wodnego. Główne inwestycje przebiegały by przez Polskę, również przez nasz region. Wisła w okolicach Sandomierz jest żeglowna, ale tylko na ktrótkim odcinku. Teraz można pływać w promieniu 6 km od Sandomierza w dół i w górę rzeki. Regulacja Wisły jest konieczna aby można było dopłynąć Wisłą do Krakowa oraz portów Gdańska i Szczecina. Takze po to by transportowac drogą wodną towary z Niemiec na Białoruś i Ukrainę, a na tym nie koniec. Połączenie takie praktycznie otworzyłoby drogi turystyczne od morza czarnego aż po Atlantyk. Skorzysta rónież nasz region bo Sandomierz ma rozstać portem przeładunkowym dla Polski południowej a do budowy szlaku wykorzystane zostaną produkowane w regionie materiały.
